Yesterday was National Cinnamon Bun Day here in Sweden, so it seems somehow a fitting day to start a new blog. Of course I'm a day late, but you're not going to worry too much about that, are you? Its a new tradition, started in 1999, but I've yet to find someone who can explain why it was introduced.
Everywhere I went yesterday smelled of cinnamon, kanelbulle everywhere.

We found some ice skating in Kungstragården, a lot of the squares (or torgs) here have public skating rinks in. These are available for all to use.
I took some location information from my walk around Rinkeby and put it on a Google map.

On our way back from Nyköping we stopped at a service station and discovered Swedens first motorway chapel.
We went to the Re:Publik festival at the university. The highlights of the day were Restricted Area, [grendel] and Covenant. It was smaller and less busy than I had expected for a free festival, and slightly odd to see Covenant on their home ground.

Synth-picknick was a mini festival on Vinterviken. A slightly unusual affair being basically a sound system set up in a public area, so around 100 electro music fans were picnicking while listening to DJs. I can't imagine it being possible to run an event like this in England without incurring the wrath of some local jobsworth who thinks you should have toilet facilities or a trained first aider.
We found a deserted chess club in the Kulturehuset by Sergels Torg.
I found some Ugly Wood Art on Norderön and Frösön.
We went to the Tinitus Festival, run by the same people as last years Re:Publik
Walpurgis Night is a big celebration in Sweden - with the celebrations being broadcast live from Skansen.
Every year there is a "Tram Day" celebration on the Stockholm vintage tram - the tram cafe serves a tram cake.
After the Rosendal Slott car show we stopped at Gröna Lund.
Skansen midsummer provides many opportunities to blend in to the background.

We found a Chaise Longue in a car park on Djurgården.
We went to the Festival of Chocolate.
After a little hiatus due to holidays (of which more later), we're back and can pick up where we left off, lets start the year with some Hallowe'en cakes. Swedes will take any excuse to have special cakes, and All Hallows Eve is no exception, though they celebrate All Saints Day more.
Inside Central Station I found a gingerbread house, part of the traditional Swedish christmas.
As ever, the Swedes celebrate festivals with cake.
The old mint cafe in Sigtuna has some runes on the walls.
Since a number of us were finishing this week, there was a goodbye party at Ballbreaker. Its been a hell of a ride, but now its time to move on. There are still more adventures to be had in Stockholm, so this is not the end for this blog quite yet. Stay tuned.
We had heard about the open house parties thrown by our neighbours, but we finally got to see one, you can guess from the beautiful painting what kind of art studio they run.
